Program ISH
The ISH 2026 will take place from July 12 to August 08, 2026.
If you'd like to get an idea of what the ISH is all about, you can read more here:
The first week of the International Summer Science School Heidelberg begins with an introductory orientation day to present the ISH program, discuss open questions, clarify organizational matters, and get to know each other.
The second part of the first week consists of joint workshops at institutions such as the ExploLearnLab and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics and the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy/The House of Astronomy. These are designed to prepare participants for practical work at the institutes by giving them a first look at basic research technologies and theory.
The 3-week internship at the scientific institutes begins after the introductory week. The course and objectives of the internship are determined by the individual institutes and the scientific tutors. This also applies to the working hours. The institutes participating in the ISH and the respective tutors dedicate a considerable amount of time and personal commitment to working with the participants of the ISH on a voluntary basis. Participants should therefore have a strong interest in the natural sciences, be able to work independently and show initiative.
Beside the scientific program there are excursions in and around Heidelberg.
